    AEW PPV History

All Elite Wrestling was officially announced on January 1, 2019. It was also announced that the promotion will organize its first pay-per-view event in May 2023. It was also the first-ever event by AEW. On May 25, 2023, AEW Double or Nothing took place and there has been no looking back since then. AEW has not announced any single biggest event of the promotion like WWE has done with WrestleMania. However, fans still consider Double or Nothing to be AEW's marquee event. The company's owner and chairman Tony Khan has nominated Double or Nothing as one of its Big Four PPVs. The other three events were its next three continuing PPVs namely, AEW All Out, Full Gear, and Revolution. All Out is a spin-off of the All In PPV, which was organized by Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks, and other wrestlers. This event is considered to be the event that began the formation of AEW. Full Gear and Revolution took place in November and February and are now annually held around that time of the year.

Before All Out, AEW also organized Fyter Fest and Fight for the Fallen in 2019 which were its second and third PPV after Double or Nothing respectively. However, beginning in 2020, AEW no longer organized these events as pay-per-view. Instead, it organized the two events as special episodes of Dynamite and Rampage. In both 2020 and 2021, AEW organized four PPVs only - Revolution in March, Double or Nothing in May, All Out in September, and finally Full Gear in November. In 2022, it added another PPV to its belt in the form of AEWxNJPW: Forbidden Door. The event is a collaboration between the wrestlers of AEW and NJPW and now takes place every year in June. In 2023, the PPV calendar of AEW saw major additions. While it organized all five PPVs it had organized in 2022, AEW added another three in the year. This brought its annual PPV tally to eight. In August 2023, it organized AEW All In at the Wembley Stadium in London, England. It then organized WrestleDream in October and World's End in December 2023 to close the year. It is worth waiting to know whether AEW will introduce another PPV in 2024 or perhaps reduce one from its calendar, which seems pretty unlikely.
